Professional Background

As an experienced higher education professional/recruiter, Donnell Wiggins is dynamic enrollment management and recruitment specialist. His career has spanned a variety of positions at public, private and research universities including Urbana University, University of Cincinnati, Miami University, Ohio State University, and Wilberforce University. He currently serves as the assistant vice president for strategic enrollment management and dean of admission at the University of Dayton.

Throughout his experience in higher education, he has been part of the development, training, coaching, retention, and goal setting process. He is an accomplished and effective admissions/recruitment professional, speaker, and community outreach leader with wide-ranging interpersonal communication skills. As a proven leader in enrollment management/recruitment strategy, Donnell Wiggins has developed strategic plans, curricula, training, workshops and much more.

With over 15 years of higher education experience in admissions, enrollment management, retention, and advancement Donnell joined the University of Dayton Enrollment Management team in September of 2016. As the Assistant VP Donnell has broad oversight over the international recruitment and graduates admission processes; strategic development of strategies to identify/reach new markets; as well as the development and strategy to recruit underserved and underrepresented students both domestically and abroad. He is the chief architect of the University’s Flyer Promise Scholars program launched just three years ago. In this short timespan the program has made a tremendous impact helping the University realize its commitment to diversity and inclusion; and, measured success for students from low socio-economic backgrounds, historically underrepresented backgrounds, and first-generation students who make up the Flyer Promise Scholars program.

On the national stage, Donnell W. Wiggins is seen as a leader in enrollment and recruitment for under-served and under-represented populations. Because of this, he was recently selected to share his passion for serving underrepresented students at Ted X Dayton. His presentation “YES YOU CAN” was received enthusiastically.

Donnell has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Wilberforce University (2007); a Master of Science degree in Higher Education Administrative Services from McKendree University(2015); and is beginning the pursuit of a Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership from University of Dayton.
