Volunteering for Committee Service

The 2022 committee application process is now closed.

Committee service is a rewarding professional growth experience, providing members with opportunities to increase their knowledge and understanding of the issues facing the profession, to meet and learn from colleagues, and to influence the future of the organization and the profession. :

Ad Hoc Committees (Term of service: Oct. 1, 2022-Feb. 28, 2023)

  • Ad Hoc Committee on Centering Students in the Development of Equitable Admission Practices
    • This committee will be tasked with helping NACAC operationalize the recommendations included in the NACAC-NASFAA report, "Toward a More Equitable Future for Postsecondary Access," that institutions include students in the development of college admission counseling policies and practices, particularly where questions of equity are involved. The committee will create a framework for institutions to use in identifying student populations for inclusion, structuring conversations with students, and integrating student recommendations into policy and practice. In a departure from past NACAC ad hoc committees, this committee will include student participants in the process of developing further plans and recommendations.
  • Ad Hoc Committee on Mental Health and Equity in the Transition to Postsecondary Education
    • Building upon the work of the Current Trends and Future Issues (CTFI) Committee, this committee will re-examine the CTFI committee's 2019-20 recommendations for assisting students and professionals with mental health challenges related to the college transition and offer its perspective on how those recommendations could be revised or supplemented due to the pandemic. The ad hoc committee will be asked to identify systemic challenges faced by college admission counseling professionals and students and recommend ways in which NACAC is best-positioned to address these challenges in a post-COVID landscape.

Special Committees (Term of service: Oct. 1, 2022-Sept. 30, 2024)

  • Admission Practices Committee
    • The charge of this committee is to create education materials that help promote the recommended best ethical practices outlined in NACAC's Guide to Ethical Practice in College Admission and to establish and implement a process for updating the document.
  • Governance and Nominating Committee
    • The charge of this committee is to recruit and select a slate of one or more nominees for each elected position on the Board of Directors on an annual basis. The committee also creates and manages all nominee activities and establishes the timeline for the Annual Member Vote.
