Special and Standing Committees

Special ad hoc committees, commissions, and standing committees are an important part of NACAC’s leadership structure and are vital to its success. Members lend their expertise to the issues, programs, and governance that keep the association current and strategic in serving its members, the profession, and students.

Special committees and commissions are convened to address specific tasks within a defined timeline. Two recently completed committees are the Ad Hoc Committee on Governance Restructuring and the Ad Hoc Committee on Leadership in College Admission.

The three standing committees typically include seven NACAC voting members who are selected and approved by the board of directors to serve up to a three-year term. Standing committee chairs serve up to a two-year term.

Admission Practices

This committee reviews and recommends amendments to NACAC's Guide to Ethical Practice in College Admission and related documents.

Finance

This committee reviews financial and budgetary policies and issues and the annual budget.

Governance and Nominating

This committee oversees the governance process to ensure that all governing documents of the association and its affiliates comply with NACAC Bylaws.
